World Day of Prayer will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, March 1, at Pequot Lakes Baptist Church.
The theme, “I Was a Stranger and You Welcomed Me,” as well as the program were prepared by believers from France who were thinking of the struggles of immigration and ways we can welcome a stranger, tell of our need to express love to all God’s people and find creative ways to live at peace in a diverse society.
This year’s offering will be given to World Day of Prayer and Kids Against Hunger, which is a nonprofit organization nationwide with 21 locations in Minnesota. John Poston heads the location in Nisswa, where volunteer groups prepare food packets for the hungry to be distributed in this area as well as the United States and foreign countries.
Area churches participating include Pequot Lakes Baptist, Grace United Methodist and Our Savior’s Lutheran in Pequot Lakes, and St. Christopher’s Catholic Church and Lutheran Church of the Cross in Nisswa.
All in the area are invited to attend. Refreshments will be served at 10 a.m. with the service following.
Donations can be made payable to the Pequot Lakes Baptist Church and notated for World Day of Prayer.
