Downtown Nisswa was packed with activity Saturday, Sept. 21, for the 40th annual Nisswa Fall Festival and eighth annual Smokin’ Hot BBQ Contest.
Tanner from Nisswa won $100 by finding the hidden medallion at the Pioneer Village about a half-hour after the second of three clues was posted.
Bill BBQ from Hutchinson took first place in the BBQ contest, followed by Smoke Addiction from Brainerd in second, and J & D BBQ from Moose Lake in third. VIP and popular vote winner was Session BBQ from Mantorville.
Artists and crafters lined the Paul Bunyan Trail and Turtle Track area with their wares, while City Hall Street was partially closed for barbecue contestants and the Pickle Factory parking lot was closed for bean bag toss games, live music and other games.
Children flocked to the Nisswa Pioneer Village to play games, get their faces painted, go down a giant blowup slide, jump in the Bounce House and pet goats, rabbits and chickens at a petting zoo. Top Hat Productions DJ provided music at the Pioneer Village.
Nisswa firefighters hosted a pancake breakfast at the fire hall.
