Cardboard boats take over Moonlite Bay

Twelve boats competed in the third annual Cardboard Boat Races on Saturday, Aug. 10, on Moonlite Bay of Cross Lake.

And for the third year, the Crosslake Drug boat took first place.

Participants built their boats from cardboard and glue, with the only other requirements being life jackets and paddles.

After racing in several heats, Crosslake Drug ended up the eventual winner, with Wasted Seamen coming in second and DEA in third.

Harv’s Baby won the Titanic Award for sinking the most gracefully.

The event is sponsored by Moonlite Bay and the Crosslake Ideal Lions Club. Harvey Kack spearheads the event.
