Mission Township hosted its annual Fourth of July Parade on Saturday, July 6. Parade-goers arrived right at parade time to claim a spot along the road in front of Mission Park.
After the Crosslake-Fifty Lakes American Legion and Auxiliary, various floats, fire vehicles and horses completed the parade, visitors packed the Mission Park pavilion and tent for free root beer floats and a picnic lunch. A steady rain held off until after the parade, and the weather didn’t deter people from venturing to the park.
Mission Township is celebrating its centennial this year. Posters were hung up in the park pavilion detailing the township’s history. A history project is ongoing. Anyone with a story to share from the early days in Mission should contact Ron Holm at RNSholm@brainerd.net.
