With temperatures in the 20s below zero and winds howling outside, Nisswa Elementary School students and staff played beach music, played volleyball in the gym and did the limbo in the hallways, all decked out in shorts, tank tops, flip flops, sunglasses and Hawaiian leis.
The school celebrated winter with its annual Beach Day on Friday, Feb. 1. Student council representatives traveled the hallways, handing out leis and hair pieces. Beach towels replaced blankets, and snowpants, boots and mittens littered the hallways in favor of summer attire.
