The Crossing Arts Alliance will present “Creative Writing Boot Camp” from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Franklin Arts Center in Brainerd.
This one-day writing workshop, taught by award-winning author Candace Simar of Pequot Lakes (Abercrombie Trail series) and creative writing teacher Angela F. Foster, will explore some of the components of a story — a setting that immerses the reader in your story world, conflict that keeps your reader turning the page, and dialogue with fluidity.
Participants will discuss common missteps writers make and how to avoid them, touching on point of view, writing that important first page and creating interesting characters.
Space is limited. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $15, which includes the all-day workshop, lunch and beverages.
