Thanks to devoted volunteers and donations, the Library Foundation was able to bring the wizarding world of Harry Potter to Pine River.
Every year the Pine River Public Library puts on a Halloween themed attraction that is fun for families. In the past the library has had a haunted forest and a haunted house.
This year’s fundraiser was a tour of Pine River’s own miniature Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry featuring actors and props that were familiar to anyone who has read or watched Harry Potter.
Children were treated to a meeting with an amazingly convincing Professor Dumbledor, chance encounters with Harry Potter and Draco Malfoy, and lessons in transplanting young mandrake plants.
The Library Foundation uses funds from the event for programming. The library tries to avoid repeating a fundraiser theme two years in a row.
Elsewhere, the Nisswa American Legion hosted its annual Children’s Halloween Party where children ages 12 and younger dressed up in their Halloween costumes and enjoyed games, decorations and treats.
In Crosslake, the 14th annual Spooktacular Children’s Halloween Party featured games, prizes and candy, sponsored by local Lions clubs.
