The 2013 Hackensack chainsaw carving event proved a success in spite of rain.

From Friday-Sunday, Sept. 27-29, chainsaw carvers plied their art in front of crowds of people through both rain and shine. During heavy downpours the 10 professional carvers had an audience that dwindled, but they were always back when the clouds cleared.

The event also featured food vendors and the All-American Lumberjack Show where two competitors raced up vertical poles to saw logs; ran across floating, spinning logs; and demonstrated the speed of souped-up chainsaws in cutting through thick blocks of wood.

All pieces carved were auctioned Sunday, Sept. 29. The proceeds were divided among four sponsors and to fund future Hackensack Chamber of Commerce events.
