The Center for Lifelong Learning (CLL) at Central Lakes College will kick off fall with an event featuring Minnesota Public Radio icon and author Cathy Wurzer on Thursday, Sept. 12, at CLC’s Brainerd campus.
A reception and book signing will be from 5-6 p.m., followed by Wurzer’s program at 6:30 p.m. in the Chalberg Theatre.
Wurzer is the host of “Morning Edition” for MPR News. She is also the co-host of “Almanac,” a weekly public affairs program produced by Twin Cities Public Television for Minnesota’s statewide public television network.
Wurzer has won four Emmy Awards for her work on “Almanac.” Before her return to radio, she was an anchor and reporter for WCCO-TV, the CBS affiliate in Minneapolis. She has also been a talk show host for WCCO-AM radio, a producer for KMSP-TV and political reporter for KSTP-AM radio.
At CLC, Wurzer will speak about her book “Tales of the Road: Highway 61,” the iconic highway stretching along Minnesota’s North Shore. Photojournalist Denny Behr will be on hand to share photos from the road.
Cost to attend is free for CLL members. Cost for non-members is $10 for the reception catered by Prairie Bay, book signing and program, and $6 for the program alone.
Registration is required by calling 218-855-8118. Sponsorships and memberships are also available for the 2013-14 season.
