The Minnesota Military Museum and the Little Falls Dairy Queen invite the public to an ice cream social and book sale from 5-9 p.m. Tuesday, July 16, at the Minnesota Military Museum.
“There will be activities for both kids and adults with numerous period re-enactors on hand to help interpret events of military significance” said Jeff Theilen, executive director for the museum.
Tanks, helicopters and other static displays will be opened for picture taking. Civil War re-enactors will fire muskets and volunteers will be on hand to provide tours and answer questions about the museum.
In addition, the museum will conduct a book sale of surplus books from its 10,000 volume library. The sale will feature many individual books and book sets, with the majority of subjects dealing with military history.
Brats and hot dogs will be available for purchase and the Little Falls Dairy Queen will provide free root beer floats.
The Minnesota Military Museum is a 501c3 educational organization and located just inside the gates of Camp Ripley. It is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and is the only military museum in the state honoring all branches of service, from early frontier days to the present.
