Craig Nagel, a Pequot Lakes author, will present at the Speaking of Books series at Prairie Bay Grill and Catering in Baxter from 5-6:30 p.m. Thursday, June 20.
Nagel has published more than 700 essays in the last 30 years and two books, “A Place Called Home: Moments from an Ordinary Life” in 2007 and “A Sense of Wonder” in 2012, which are inspired from his column The Cracker Barrel, which has appeared every other week in the Lake Country Echo since 1981, a newspaper in which he was an original co-owner.
Nagel, a 40-year resident of the area, lives in the woods near Pequot Lakes with his wife, Claire. He divides his time between writing, reading, traveling, sailing, taking naps and having fun with his grandkids.
The event is free to the public with complimentary appetizers as Nagel answers questions and signs books. Guests receive a $5 discount toward dinner at the Prairie Bay Grill that evening.
This is the second year for the literary venue featuring regional authors, publishers, book photographers and illustrators. Joe Plut, author and retired Central Lakes College English and humanities instructor, created and hosts the series.
Speaking of Books is a free series scheduled the third Thursday of each month through September.
