The Heartland Symphony Orchestra (HSO), a 50-player community orchestra based in Brainerd and Little Falls, is in need of a music director/conductor for the upcoming season.
The orchestra is completing its 36th year of performing live symphonic music concerts three times each concert season in both communities (six concerts per season). Each season, the orchestra traditionally features guest soloists, special community ensembles and student concerto winners.
The HSO is a 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization governed by a 16-member volunteer board of directors and currently employs a conductor, a concertmaster, an orchestra manager and a business manager.
The conductor will be hired for HSO’s 2013-14 concert season with program planning beginning in the spring and concerts to be held on weekends in mid-October, early December and mid-April 2014. Six regular rehearsals per concert series take place weekly during the performance season, alternating between Brainerd and Little Falls.
