Great River Strings to perform spring concerts

The 70-plus Great River Strings musicians will present spring concerts at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 13, at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood and at 2 p.m. Sunday, April 14, in the Aitkin High School auditorium.

The Ripple River Strings, the beginning orchestra, will entertain with “Frog in the Oatmeal” written for the group by director Arnie Anderson followed by a “Mandolin Chase” with the newly formed Mandolin Orchestra.

The Select Small Group will perform a Vivaldi selection and “Fiddling with Bach’s Notes” by Anderson.

The Great River Strings Spring will examine the resiliency of the human spirit and the power of the Holy Spirit through the music of J.S. Bach and Ludwig van Beethoven. A representative of the local deaf community as well as Pastors Mark Nordell and David Anderson will provide commentary on each of these subjects to amplify the music.

Admission: is $8 for adults, $5 for seniors and students and free for children 6 and younger. There is a $20 family maximum.
