Mrs. Gertrude Marsh was pleasantly surprised Wednesday when she received a corsage of two orchids in the mail. The corsage was mailed from Philadelphia, Pa., through the Boscul Coffee Company.
50 years ago, July 12, 1968
Police Chief Jerry Sorenson reported his apprehension of Vernon Fox last week as Mr. Fox was coming into Pine River. Mr. Fox recently escaped from St. Cloud State Prison, where he was serving a sentence.
South Cass County Deputy Fred Pelzer reported the poisoning of several dogs in the Shaeffer's Point area near Gull Lake, with one dog dead and others becoming very ill. Several of them responded to treatment by a veterinarian, who stated that apparent strychnine poisoning was the cause of illness.
