Andy’s Restaurant and Liquor Store in Crosslake is under new ownership, with some remodeling in the works and an expanded menu on the way.

Ed Money, the new owner, said he plans to keep the restaurant and liquor store pretty similar to how they have been, but with more emphasis on the menu and kitchen.

He’ll serve sandwiches and burgers, including a juicy Lucy and prime rib sandwich, among other items.

Remodeling plans include a new bar top and bar front, new ceiling tiles, carpet and paint. He’ll also be putting in a few flat screen TVs, as well as tap beers.

The Crosslake City Council decided Monday, April 8, it will not comment on a consideration by Crow Wing County to allow sheds within 20 feet of shore in an area neighboring Crosslake.

The city’s codes would not allow the sheds; however, the area of land in question is in Fairfield Township on Goodrich Lake.

The desire for summer activities must be hitting me particularly hard lately, because last weekend my boyfriend, Bryce, and I decided to take a canoe ride down the river.

It was 50 degrees out, the snow was melting and it was sunny and beautiful. It sounded like a great idea. Both of us are experienced canoeists, and at some point I think the desire to go outside overwhelmed any thoughts of why canoeing down the river in March could be a bad idea.

A $100 fraudulent American Express traveler’s check was passed at the Freedom gas station on Highway 371 near Brainerd International Raceway on Wednesday, March 20.

Lt. Dave Larson of the Crow Wing County Sheriff’s Department said the check was a photocopy. He said the incident is still under investigation.

“A lot of times it is a transient thing,” Larson said, indicating that whoever used the check may not still be in the area. “Once in a while it’s someone local; a lot of times it’s not.”
