Kids: Summer Reading Program is about to start

“Dig into Reading” is this year’s theme. Sign up (and plant a seed) Thursday, May 30, from 5:30-7 p.m. Or sign up (and plant a seed) Saturday, June 1, from 9-11:30 a.m., or anytime thereafter at the library.

We have wonderful presentations planned for all of you throughout the summer (even if you’re not registered for the reading program). This year there will be a $5 entry fee per family. If you complete your reading lists, this fee will be returned at the final ice cream party so that you may buy a book at the party.

Easter Bunny to visit Pequot Lakes Library

Hey kids, the Easter Bunny will make a special stop at our library on Tuesday, March 26, from 6-7 p.m. There will be plenty of fun things to do, like making a craft, listening to stories, singing songs and looking for Easter eggs.

This event is sponsored by the library and Early Childhood Coalition. We sure hope you’ll be able to join us and a very special rabbit!

Library Column: Daddy's Night Out Withthe Kids planned Jan. 29

The library, along with the Early Childhood Coalition and the Early Childhood Family Education program, is sponsoring a Daddy’s Night Out With the Kids to be held at the library on Tuesday, Jan. 29, at 6 p.m.

The theme for the evening is “It’s Snowing at the Library.” Singing songs, doing snow activities, reading books about snow, making a project and making a snowman treat will make this a fun evening for everyone.

Besides dads, this event is open to anyone who wishes to have a fun night out with the children.

■ Every Wednesday, 11 a.m.: Preschool Story Time. Bring your young children in for one-half hour of stories, songs and fun.

■ Second Saturday of each month, 10 a.m.-noon: Reading with Rocky.

■ Tuesday, Jan. 29, 6 p.m.: Daddy’s Night Out with the Kids, “It’s Snowing at the Library.”

Vecchione and Erdahl Duo to present 'Music is for Everyone'

Carrie Vecchione and Rolf Erdahl will present a workshop especially for kids ages kindergarten through third grade at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, at the Pequot Lakes Library.

Their original programs blend storytelling, performance and children’s literature about music to bring basic musical concepts and history to life. They are committed to bringing music into the community and have extensive performing and teaching experience.

They are also an award-winning performing duo who are sponsored through the Legacy Program.
